Biography

He was the original drummer for British metal band Cradle of Filth, playing on the first three albums. After leaving in 1999, he joined Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. After being removed from the lineup,[2] Barker went on to play with Brujeria, Old Man's Child, Lock Up, Gaahl and King ov Hell, Ancient, Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes. And in 2007 recorded with Winter's Thrall, on their EP In:Through:Out

As of 2011, Nick Barker has officially joined Los Angeles death metal pioneers Sadistic Intent, replacing long time drummer Emilio Marquez. Barker's technique incorporates high-speed double bass drumming and blast beats.

On Dimmu Borgir's 2002 "World Misanthropy" video, he mentioned the following names as important influences on his playing style: Neil Peart (Rush), Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Clive Burr, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), and Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel). Many of those names would appear in various thanks lists on albums he has participated in.
